Scouting Report

Pitch  Velocity  Usage
Fastball 94 MPH 49%
Change Up 85 MPH 15%
Cutter 89 MPH 18%
Slider 86 MPH 13%
Curveball 81 MPH 4%

Johnny Cueto relied on his slider against Atlanta the most he had in the entire season and has progressively used it more and more this season. He is still relying mostly on the fastball/cutter to work off of while mixing in his slider and change up and tossing in a curveball or two a game.

Brewers Starter: RHP Yovani Gallardo

2014 Season Stats

Scouting Report

Pitch Velocity Usage
Fastball 92 MPH 55%
Change Up 87 MPH 1%
Curveball 80 MPH 16%
Slider 87 MPH 28%

Gallardo works off of his fastball and mixes in two breaking balls well. He has mixed in a change up a few times this season, but you may only see one or two a game. He has thrown his slider as often as 42% of the time in a game this season and with the Reds aggressive lineup you may see a lot of those. The fastball and slider are both above-average pitches. The curveball has been below-average for the last few seasons, so that may be the pitch the Reds will want to try and take advantage of.
