Sean Marshall pitches for Triple-A on rehab; Looks solid

Last night Cincinnati Reds left handed reliever Sean Marshall made his first rehab appearance as he got the start for the Triple-A Louisville Bats. He pitched just one inning, allowed no runs, a bloop hit and a walk while striking out two hitters. He threw 20 pitches and 12 were strikes.

The first batter was clearly an adjustment for Marshall as he struggled to locate his pitches and his curveball was flat by Sean Marshall standards. In the second at bat he started to show a better curveball, though it still wasn’t quite what we usually see from a fully healthy and ready-to-go Marshall. For the next batter though we began to see that true curveball from Marshall that is among the best in baseball and the Triple-A hitters didn’t have a chance but to flail the bat at it in the hopes of fouling it off.

The left hander will take the mound again tonight in Louisville, again making the start and scheduled to go one inning. We will be sure to update you again tomorrow on how he looked during his outing.
