The Cincinnati Reds announced earlier this evening that right handed pitcher Mat Latos was dealing with some elbow irritation and would have his scheduled rehab start for the Triple-A Louisville Bats pushed back a few days.
Latos last pitched on the April 3rd for Double-A Pensacola and he didn’t fare well, though he was simply getting his work in. On Sunday he had a work out in Dayton where the Reds Single-A team plays, so the irritation must have popped up after the work out instead of after his most recent rehab start in Pensacola. The issue isn’t expected to be serious. The Reds have not announced when his next rehab start will take place. Alfredo Simon pitched very well in his first start in place of Latos, but this is just another injury issue that is plaguing the Reds early in this 2014 season.
