C. Trent Rosecrans of the Cincinnati Enquirer just tweeted out that Mat Latos will make a rehab start with the Double-A Pensacola Blue Wahoos on their opening day, April 3rd.

On Friday night the Reds were scheduled to play an exhibition game in Pensacola against the Blue Wahoos and while the teams took the field for introductions, the rain picked back up and didn’t stop, leading to the cancellation of the game.
The fans may have missed out on their chance to see the full big league squad in action on Friday night, six days later they will get their chance to see one of the better pitchers in the National League take the mound on opening night for their team.
The appearance will be the first one in the minor leagues for Latos since the 2009 season when he pitched half of a season split between Low-A Fort Wayne and Double-A San Antonio while playing with the Padres organization. He did pretty well that season as he posted a 1.37 ERA in 72.1 innings before joining the Padres rotation later in the season.
