Xavier Paul Signs With The Orioles

After declining to re-sign Xavier Paul earlier this off-season, it became glaringly obvious that the Reds were not looking to move forward in getting the outfielder to return.  As of this afternoon, Paul has inked himself a one-year deal with the Baltimore Orioles that is a minor-league contract, but will have an invite to Spring Training.

Paul slammed the Reds first Grand Slam of the season last year against the Washington Nationals on April 5, amidst a 15-0 rout.  With Ryan Ludwick having been disabled for the majority of the season, the three-man tandem of Paul, Derrick Robinson and Donald Lutz saw a majority of playing time out in left field.

He was always a nice bat to have off the bench late in games against a hard-throwing reliever and we can all certainly hope he will make the Orioles Opening Day roster.
