There are few things more exciting than “insider access” to the behind-the-scenes goings-on with a professional sports team, and our hometown Cincinnati Reds are no exception. Through a fantastic year-long promotion conducted by Franklin Sports, the company is celebrating its 30th Anniversary connection with Major League Baseball. The following release (8/21/2013) tells the story:
REDS’ ZACK COZART, RONNIE ORTEGON TO CONDUCT BATTING CLINIC, Q&A FRIDAY AT GREAT AMERICAN BALL PARK FOR LOCAL FANS
50 fans earned the chance through Franklin Sports’ 30th anniversary
LEARN FROM A PRO promotion
CINCINNATI (Aug. 21, 2013) – Cincinnati Reds shortstop Zack Cozart and Reds hitting coach Ronnie Ortegon will fulfill plenty of dreams on Friday, Aug. 23 at noon, when they conduct a batting clinic and Q&A session for 50 local fans at Great American Ball Park.
Each of the participants earned the opportunity through LEARN FROM A PRO, Franklin Sports’ campaign celebrating the 30th anniversary of its batting gloves, the official batting gloves of Major League Baseball.
Fans will assemble in the hitting tunnels at Great American Ball Park to Learn From A Franklin Pro. During the one-hour event, scheduled to start at noon, Cozart and Ortegon will demonstrate hitting techniques and drills, as well as answer audience questions. Additionally, each of the participants will attend Friday night’s Reds game against the Milwaukee Brewers.
The clinic is one of 18 that are being, or have been, held at Major League Baseball stadiums around the country this year. Participants originally had a chance to win a spot into a clinic through the Franklin Sports Batting Glove national promotion that ran from December 2012 through May 2013.
Event coordinator and Franklin Sports Marketing Manager, Brendan McCarthy, shared with me that this promotion has been a major hit with participating fans as well as the individual players and coaches who have volunteered graciously their respective time to be part of these “Learn From A Pro” events across all 30 major league teams. The Reds are the 28th participating team to date, as the event schedule winds down at summer’s end.
