Of note for this series…
1. The Cards will be without the services of their leader, Yadier Molina. He recently hit the DL with a bum knee. He also received a cortisone shot and had it drained. I don’t see how you have a National League MVP conversation and Molina is not one of the first names you mention, love him or hate him.
2. Tonight’s Reds starter, Bronson Arroyo, is currently enjoying his best season at GABP (6-2, 2.58 ERA, 1.095 ERA). In fact, Arroyo’s 2013 home-away splits are crazy different. On the road, Bronson is 3-6 with an ERA of 4.21 and a WHIP of 1.197.
The offset to this is that the Cards have had a way of beating Arroyo in his career (8-15, 4.49 ERA, 1.315 WHIP).
3. These two teams have experienced a lull in their respective seasons. In the last 10 games, the Cards are 3-7 while the Reds are 4-6. Both teams are 10-10 in their last 20 and 15-15 in their last 30.
4. Situational hitting.
