Top of NL All-Star Game Starting Lineup has AL Seeing Reds

Jul 13, 2013; Atlanta, GA, USA; BP will bat leadoff for the NL in tomorrow night’s All-Star Game. (Daniel Shirey-USA TODAY Sports)

NL and San Francisco Giants skipper Bruce Bochy announced his starting lineup for tomorrow night’s All-Star Game. A Reds feel at the top. Here it is…

1. Brandon Phillips, 2B, CIN
2. Carlos Beltran, RF, STL
3. Joey Votto, 1B, CIN
4. David Wright, NYM
5. Carlos Gonzalez, LF, COL
6. Yadier Molina, C, STL
7. Troy Tulowitzki, SS, COL
8. Michael Cuddyer, DH, COL
9. Bryce Harper, CF, WAS (or is it Bryan?)
SP. Matt Harvey, NYM

And AL and Detroit Tigers manager Jim Leyland followed with the AL’s lineup…

1. Mike Trout, LF, LAA
2. Robinson Cano, 2B, NYY
3. Miguel Cabrera, 3B, DET
4. Chris Davis, 1B, BAL
5. Jose Bautista, RF, TOR
6. David Ortiz, DH, BOS
7. Adam Jones, CF, BAL
8. Joe Mauer, C, MIN
9. J.J. Hardy, SS, BAL
SP. Maz Scherzer, DET

No surprise on the starting pitchers. I figured Harvey would get the nod from the NL since the game will be played at Citi Field. Add that he’s had a good first half of the season and it simply makes sense. I also don’t think anyone can fault Leyland for tabbing his own guy in Scherzer, but I bet there will be a few.

Let the ranting or raving about these decisions begin.

And if you’re on Twitter, you know it has.
