1. Dusty to use matchups for left field
I’m sure this isn’t a total shock, but Reds skipper Dusty Baker will utilize matchups when determining who will start in left field.
“On a daily basis, I’m going to have to figure out who’s the best guy offensively and defensively for who’s pitching for us and who’s pitching against us.”
– from MLB.com’s Jeremy Warnemuende
Someone on the Reds staff will be combing the pages and Internet to find all the stats among the trio of Chris Heisey, Xavier Paul and Derrick Robinson then. Of course, with Robinson, there won’t be as much info considering DRob doesn’t have the history in the league as with Heisey and Paul.
With Ryan Ludwick still on the mend (and ahead of schedule), Cincy LFers have a 3-slash of .236/.306/.357 with 7 HR and 34 RBI. As of July 4, 2012, Ludwick’s numbers were .239/.314/.472 with 11 HR and 33 RBI. But as we know, Luddy hadn’t found his swing as of that time and hadn’t been completely used as the starter.
