Todd Frazier and His Giving Ways

Happy birthday, America! Hope all have a safe and festive celebration today!

Last night was Todd Frazier Bobblehead night. A walk-off, extra-innings win. Fireworks after that game. A grand celebration.

Something caught my eye on Twitter, but just a touch of background of which I’m sure we can all recall.

After going for a long stretch without a home run, Frazier informed us of how he rectified the situation. I’m sure we’ve all heard this

“The problem was I was eating a different cereal. I wasn’t eating Cinnamon Toast Crunch…”

The link is to a video and you’ll need to forward it some to get to Frazier’s “explanation”.

Well, seems like the ToddFather made a few new friends and fans. From Jim Day on Twitter…

Four cases, huh? Be careful of getting burnt out on all that cereal.

Wait. It gets even better…

We shouldn’t be surprised by Frazier’s giving nature. He designated $10,000 to the United Baseball Foundation’s “Grand Slam for Sandy”. The monies were part of a $20,000 grant Todd received from the Major League Baseball Players Trust for being named the NL’s Outstanding Rookie in Players Choice Awards balloting. The balloting was conducted by the NL players.

“When Sandy hit, I knew I wanted to help out in some way. Anytime you can help families get back on their feet after such devastation, it is a no brainer.”

And how could anyone forget what he did in Pittsburgh last season. Once was memorialized in a T-shirt. The night Frazier received an award from Dr. Henry Heimlich, BRM was there to witness the ceremony.

Hardly any Reds fan doesn’t get a little choked up whenever you see any pics or video of Todd and Teddy Kremer either.

If you haven’t watched this, it’s a must. I won’t give away any of the video’s content except to say that as Frazier notes in this, you have each other’s back. I’ve always heard that’s part of being Jersey.

All I can say is I’m glad this guy’s a member of the Cincinnati Reds.
