Raising Reds: Weekend Woes

Wasn’t exactly a kind Saturday and Sunday to Reds farm teams. Of the eight total games, only two wins. The four affiliates that are currently in action all have a sub-.500 record.

Louisville Bats

The Bats split their games over the weekend. On Saturday, the Bison bested the Bats by a 10-7 score. In that game, Billy Hamilton went 2-5 and stole a base. Henry Rodriguez was 3-5 and rove in a run. The real story of this game might have been the two starters and woeful their performances were. Buffalo’s Rocky Romero went 3.2 innings, allowed 10 hits and 6 runs and walked 5. The Bats Chad Reineke pitched 4.2 innings, gave up 7 hits and 8 runs (7 earned) and delivered 3 home runs.

Yesterday’s game was a lot better from the Bats perspective. They were the team putting up a double-digit run count as the Bats won 12-2. For the second consecutive game, Rodriguez went 3-5 at the plate, but in Sunday’s game, HRod had 5 RBI. Armando Galarraga hurled 7 innings of shutout ball for the win. He allowed only 5 hits and struck out 6 Bison batters.

Not quite the same fortune yesterday as the Nuts blanked the Blaze by a final of 5-0.

Dayton Dragons

Dayton dropped both games over the weekend to the visiting Fort Wayne TinCaps. Saturday’s game ended with Dayton losing by a score of 5-3 and yesterday’s game saw the Dragons drop a 13-7 decision. The bright spot for the weekend might be Beau Amaral‘s 4-9 performance. Amaral had been slumping and this could signal that he’s coming out of it.
