Raising Reds: Pensacola Flattens Biscuits

Before I delve into the games, BRM gives a hearty congratulations to Donald Lutz on his first MLB hit, RBI and stolen base…all in the same game.

Louisville Bats

The Bats bid to get to .500 wasn’t meant to be as they committed three throwing errors and the Bison plated three unearned runs. Starter Daniel Corcino saw the road rough once again as he allowed 7 of the 8 runs (4 earned) over only 5 innings. He was taken out after throwing 84 pitches and permitting 8 hits.

Pensacola Blue Wahoos

The Blue Wahoos snapped a five-game losing streak and finally took one of the five games in the series against Montgomery. Tim Crabbe delivered a sensational performance and he got some early help from the bats as the Blue Wahoos scored 7 runs within the first three innings. Crabbe didn’t need that many, but we’ll take ‘em. Mike Gilmartin slugged his first homer as a Blue Wahoo. Bryson Smith and Travis Mattair also homered for Pensacola.

Dayton Dragons

A couple of late potential Dragons rallies were dowsed by the Cougars. In the 8th, Dayton had runner on 1st and 2nd with one out, but a double play eliminated that threat. Zach Vincej led off the 9th with a single and once again a DP erased a Dragons threat.
