This evening at 6:00 PM ET, longtime Reds beat writer and Hall of Famer Hal McCoy will be the topic on MLB Network’s MLB Tonight. As many of you may recall, Hal went the route of asking the public for a new driver to and from GABP. His former driver, David Glass, was unable to provide Hal transportation for the upcoming season due to health concerns.
Enter Ray Snedegar, who not only answered Hal’s plea, but was also selected by Hal. Snedegar is a 31-year U.S. Air Force veteran and recently widowed. The piece on McCoy and Snedegar was covered on a two-day period and shows Hal and Snedegar as they were followed by MLBN’s cameras. As you will see, one facet that is touched upon is their 180-mile round trip trek to and from Great American Ball Park. They even provide us a closer look into what a day involves into their travels by equipping Snedegar’s car with two wallet-sized GoPro cameras. Here’s a little taste.
Since the Reds do not play until 8:15 PM ET, we can all tune into MLB Network and catch the entire feature on Hal and Ray.
Thanks to MLB Network for providing the following embeddable videos. The first is the entire piece on Hal. The second is an interview of former Red Sean Casey by Lauren Shehadi. In that vid (which was taken from yesterday’s “The Rundown”, Casey talks about his relationship with Hal.
