Reds v Cardinals - 4/29/13: Probable Pitchers and Lineups

Thanks to those that are in charge of the MLB schedules. I know it’s been discussed and mentioned muches, but could someone honestly explain how in the world the Reds play two series in St. Louis within the same month before the Cards even step a foot in Cincy?

I’m sure one of Selig’s sergeants would say “logistics”.

Anyway, here’s your specifics for tonight’s Reds-Cards tilt. Game time in 8:15 PM ET.

Probable Starters

Reds – Mat Latos
2013: 1-0, 2.16 ERA, 1.050 WHIP (5 games/starts)
v. STL: 2-4, 7.88 ERA, 1.675 WHIP (8 games/starts)
@ Busch III: 1-3, 10.23 ERA, 2.000 WHIP (5 games/starts)
Last appearance v. STL: 4/8/13 (ND) – 6 IP, 4 H, 4 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 5 SO

Coming toward the end of the first month of baseball and tonight’s game will be the second time Latos has started at Busch. He’s started three at GABP. Just kind of odd, but the April schedule is kind of odd, too.

Cardinals – Adam Wainwright
2013: 4-1, 1.93 ERA, 0.991 WHIP (5 games/starts)
v. CIN: 4-6, 4.29 ERA, 1.262 WHIP (16 games, 11 starts)
@ Busch III: 45-26, 2.65 ERA, 1.137 WHIP (112 games, 81 starts)
Last appearance v. CIN: 8/26/12 (W) – 5.2 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 2 SO

So far in 2013, Wainwright is a completely different pitcher than he was last season. After missing all of 2011, he posted a rather mediocre season in 2012. By far the case in 2013. Righty bats are stuggling mightily against him post a triple slash of just .206/.206/.279. In hurling 37.1 innings this season, Wainwright has yet to surrender a home run.
