Raising Reds – 4/27/13: Blowing Late Leads

No wins again? In three games you held the lead until at least the 7th inning and still no wins? For the second consecutive day, no wins all around. The pattern developing is a little disturbing especially when you read about losing streaks later on in this.

Louisville Bats

Reynolds did his part. After his departure following the 7th inning, things looked well in hand with Jose Arredondo entering the game. All quiet in the 8th, but the Iron Pigs struck for three in the top of the ninth off Arredondo and Kevin Whelan. The Bats were able to get the leadoff hitter in the 9th on base via a walk, but could capitalize on mistake.

Pensacola Blue Wahoos
Game was postponed due to rain. Makeup is today as the BLue Wahoos and Smokies will play a doubleheader consisting of 2-7 inning games. First game starts at 2:00 PM ET.

Bakersfield Blaze

Jon Moscot: 5.1 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 7 SO

Moscot was taken out of the game after facing 20 batters. The Rawhide were probably esctatic at those happenings as Moscot pitched quite possibly his best game of the season. Visalia pushed a pair across in the top of the 7th to produce the 2-1 winning margin. The only Blaze run came on a Juan Duran home run in the 6th.

The loss makes 7 straight for the Blaze and the second time this young season they have had a lsing streak of at least 7 games. The other came at the start of the season.

Dayton Dragons

In this one,. the Dragons were leading going into the 8th inning and the ‘pen could not hold the lead. The manner on how this game went the way of the Chiefs is another. With the score tied at 5-5, Peoria’s Jacob Wilson cracked a tie-breaking, two-run home run with two outs. Instead of Dragons heading to the bottom of the inning with a chance to win with only one run, they now needed three…or two at the least. Didn’t happen…
