Raising Reds - 4/23/13: Blue Wahoos Lose in Extras Too

Wasn’t the best of days in the ranks of the Reds affiliates. Not the worst either. Right in the middle as the farm split their four games for a 2-2 record.

What do the wins by the Bats and Dragons have in common? Both came from behind in the later innings. The Bats on a walk-off and the Dragons won one (say that fast three times) on the road in a morning outing.

Here’s yesterday’s farming action…

Louisville Bats

1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 R H E
Gwinnett (9-11) 0 0 0 1 0 0 1 0 0 2 10 2
Louisville (10-9) 0 1 0 0 0 0 0 0 2 3 11 0

W: Diaz, Jo (1-0, 0.00) ; L: Russell, An (1-3, 3.86)

Jason Donald: 2-4
Felix Perez: 2-4
Henry Rodriguez: 3-4, RBI (5), R
Pedro Villarreal: 6 IP, 6 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 4 SO, SB (1)

The Bats ninth-inning rally began with two outs and a Rodriguez single. That was followed by singles from Emmanuel Burriss and Konrad Schmidt. A Braves fielding error allowed Burriss to score on Schmidt’s hit giving the Bats their win.

Villarreal pitched well in his six inngs, and don’t overlook his stolen base. Not sure you saw that right? It’s here and look in the Bats half of the 5th inning.

Next Game: tonight v. Gwinnett, 6:35 PM ET

Ryan LaMarre: 2-6, HR (1), RBI (2), R

LaMarre led off the game with his first home run of the season…and the Blue Wahoos scored no more. Crabbe and Generals starter Chance Ruffin went toe-to-toe for 7 innings.
