Two teams were to have their home openers last evening. Bakersfield was able to put on their Opening Game festivities while those in Dayton were washed away in the rain. Pensacola’s game against Mobile was postponed due to inclement weather, too. Only two games to cover: Louisville and the Blaze with their home opener.

Once again, the Blaze found themselves in an early hole. Waldrop cracked his first homer of 2013 in the bottom of the 2nd, but that was quickly erased when the Ports plated 4 in the top of the 3rd.

Prospect of the Day
No question that the honor goes to Greg Reynolds. Not only did he allow only two hits, he also only faced 22 batters, one over the minimum for the time he was in the game. After the Mud Hens knocked him around in his first outing of the season plus fighting some control issues (4 IP, 3 R, 3 ER, 4 BB, SO), Reynolds bounced back with a sterling performance last evening.

Last season, Reynolds was in Triple-A Round Rock of the Texas Rangers organization. He was selected #2 overall by the Colorado Rockies in 2006 draft.
