@JohnHeitz There is definite truth to criticism even of our World Series winning managers. Looking back, it seems hard to believe Sparky or Lou ever deserved it. Maybe social media, especially Twitter, has skewed perception and the immediacy of "what have you done for me lately". I doubt there are many, looking back, who wouldn't have wanted to see both of those guys in particular stay around a lot longer (Sparky being let go was ridiculous, and Lou just had too much of Marge, from what I ever heard). I even missed losing guys like Davey Johnson and Jack McKeon for the short times they passed through being Reds managers.

@jdrentz I agree completely, my friend. Dusty isn't perfect -- I haven't seen a perfect manager yet -- but he is far from being the disaster some people try to make him out to be.

@jdrentz Cincinnati has always been hard on managers. I am not to old to remember the criticisms that were directed at Sparky Anderson and Lou Pinella along with every other manager in between. Cincinnati baseball has the problem Pittsburgh football has, no matter how good you are you are measured against an impossible to duplicate standard of excellence. Given the economics of the game, there will never be another team like the Big Red Machine.
