Imagine seeing your favorite Reds players AND future Reds players on the same field without having to go to spring training. There is a special event that now makes that dream possible.
On Tuesday, April 3, there will be an event where you can see Reds stars and future Reds stars on the same field…at the same time! Great American Ball Park will host The Spring Showcase, a special exhibition game pitting the current Reds against the Reds of the future. Game time is slated for a 7:00 PM start.
Fans will also be treated to numerous activities that you won’t see during regular season games. Players will be mic’d up to the PA during batting practice. Top minor league players will be available for autographs and photos during the Major League batting practice. Unique camera angles of game action will be displayed on the video board. A drawing for the opportunity to throw the ceremonial first pitch will be held. And if that isn’t enough, free (yes, I said free) Hall of Fame and Museum admission will be offered to fans 12 and younger.
What a way to welcome the 2012 season!
Picture this. Billy Hamilton running…anywhere! Catching a foul ball hit by Denis Phipps. Seeing a battery of Robert Stephenson and Tucker Barnhart. Watching DiDi Gregorius fielding a grounder. Wondering who covers more ground: Ryan LaMarre or Drew Stubbs. Guessing the distance of a Donald Lutz homer. All are possible in this type of game!
