I was saddened yesterday to learn one of my all-time favorite Louisville Bats would no longer be with the Cincinnati Reds organization.
Matt Maloney was claimed off of waivers yesterday by the Minnesota Twins. Maloney tweeted this yesterday afternoon:
“thanks for everything reds…..but i am now a Minnesota Twin!!! looking forward to a great new opportunity!!”
Matt spent most of his time in the Reds organization with the Louisville Bats. He holds career records for games, wins, and strikeouts. He was always stellar in his time here in Louisville and, in my honest opinion, never really got a fair shake at a job in Cincinnati.
But more important than being a baseball player, Matt is an extremely virtuous human being.
I want to take this time thank Matt, and his wife Kalee, for being two of the best people I have ever met in my entire life. They’ve done so many things for me over the last couple of years they don’t even realize meant so much. From the tidbits of advice, to teaching me how to love and keep around those close to me, to the small passing-by conversations after games about anything and everything; it has all meant so much.
I wish them both the best of luck in the future. I know they do the same for me. Thanks for everything guys!
