Bats Rack: Postseason All Stars

The International League released their 2011 Postseason All Stars and there are two Louisville Bats on the list; Devin Mesoraco and Zack Cozart.

Devin Mesoraco – Devin has played the entire season (thus far) for the Bats. He has been very durable catching 95 games thus far. He has also DH’d 21 times for a total of 116 games started this season (out of 138 games). Mesoraco is hitting a stellar .289/.372/..486 this year with 36 doubles, 15 HR, 71 RBI. Those 36 doubles are good for 3rd overall in the league. Mesoraco will mostly be in Cincinnati by this time tomorrow. It was fun watching him play while he was here. He will be a nice addition to the future of the Reds.

Zack Cozart – Cozart played exactly half a season (77 games) with the Bats this year but played so well in that time he was still named to the All Star Team. In those 77 games, Cozart hit .320/.357/.467 with 26 doubles, 7 HR, and 32 RBI. Cozart began leading off in late-May when CF Dave Sappelt got injured. Cozart hit 4 lead-off HR in 36 games batting at the top of the order. Cozart was called up on July 7 and hit .324 with 2 HR and 3 RBI in 11 games for Cincinnati before suffering a season ending elbow injury. Cozart will recover and will be back at full force in 2011.

I want to personally congratualte these two players who were extremely great PEOPLE in their time here in Louisville. Other than rehab assignments, I don’t expect to ever see these two wear the purple and black of the Bats again. I also want to thank them for taking the time to do an interview with me earlier this year. You can find the links below:
