Are you disappointed you didn’t win the Reds tickets in our last contest? Worry not my fellow Reds fan. The Community Collaboration Contest is back!

The contest winner will receive 2 tickets to the Reds’ nationally televised game against the Braves on Sunday, July 24th at Great American Ballpark.

In case you missed the last contest, here are the details.

On May 20th, I wrote a summary of the Reds’ first quarter. My next task is to summarize the Reds’ second quarter of the season. After the game on Sunday, July 10th against the Brewers, the Reds will have completed 91 games, heading into the All-Star break. At this point, I will write a report on the Reds’ 2nd quarter of the season (this will cover the 47 games since my last “report’). In other words, the “Second Quarter Report” will cover the games from May 20th to July 10th. Keep in mind, the first quarter of the season will not be part of this report.

Here’s where you come in…

I would like Blog Red Machine readers to write the headline for the article described above.

The Reds are off today, leaving many of us with a feeling similar to “empty-nest syndrome.” Nonetheless, Reds fans should feel pretty good about their team as the month of June comes to an end. Over the last 4 series, the Reds have outscored AL East opponents by a total of 5 runs. Over those 12 games, Reds pitching allowed more than 5 runs only once, averaging 3.5 runs allowed per game. The Reds pitching staff has really performed magnificently over the last month. For the month of June, the Reds’ pitchers allowed only 3.5 runs per game, while the offense scored 4.6 runs per game. This only translated to a 14-12 record in June, but all signs point to a club playing very good baseball right now.

Reds Roast

Edinson Volquez and Ryan Hanigan lifted the Reds to a series win over Tampa Bay yesterday afternoon. Volquez was brilliant early, not allowing a hit until the 5th inning. Hanigan blasted his first home-run since the first series of the year, a 3-run shot against James Shields. Joey Votto collected two hits and Fred Lewis provided a much needed insurance run with an RBI single in the 7th.

The “Battle of Ohio,” round two, kicks off at GABP tomorrow. The Reds will put Bronson Arroyo on the mound to face off against Justin Masterson. After being swept in Cleveland earlier this year, the Reds are looking for some payback.

Tomorrow night is also, Reds TweetUp 2011. A bigger collection of Reds’ nerds has never been assembled. I’ll be there.

Rob Neyer at SB-Nation echoes my sentiments above, Believing in the Redlegs.
