Ever Been to Fifth-Third Field?

by Reds

The Reds Low-A affiliate Dayton Dragons are closing in on a record. I think their home field, Fifth-Third Field, is a major reason why this is well within the organization’s grasp. If you have never been to Fifth-Third Field, you are really missing something special. There are some clubs higher ranked within many franchises that do not sport a home field as spectacular as the Dragons home.

Well, you now have the chance to “visit” Fifth-Third Field through the images and descriptions of Paul Swaney of Stadium Journey. Paul provided us a tour of GABP some time ago, and now he has ventured up north a bit and hit Dayton so we can view the home of the Dragons. And any visiting fan will not be disappointed with the facility.

Having been to a game or two at Fifth-Third, I found the best piece of advice toward the very beginning of Paul’s review…

Visiting fans would be well advised to get their tickets in advance when they travel to Fifth Third Field. You are sure to find filled seats, and while the ballpark itself is not spectacular, it is a very cozy stadium with no noticeable flaws.

I do take a bit of offense in saying that the stadium is not spectacular, but then, I am biased.

There are other portions of this review that are worthy of mention such as that the concessions are manned by different non-profit organizations. This is a great and commendable way to help not only those in attendance, but those within the Dayton community.

Another point Paul makes that really should be taken into consideration if you ever attend a game. Try as best you can to get a seat on the first base side. Here’s another excerpt from Paul on why you should.

The First base side definitely has the more interesting options, so if you are choosing seats, keep that in mind if proximity to good smells and good tastes are important to you.

I personally have had a seat on every level and in most parts of the park. While I did enjoy being in a suite (once), I must say I enjoyed the lawn the best. And yes, in right field so I’m close to the first base line.

There is so much more to Paul’s review. I highly suggest reading it and do not be afraid to offer your opinion to Paul. He will respond.

Here’s where to find the review.

Enjoy!

I am looking forward to my visit Saturday evening when they are expected tie the Portland Trailblazers sellout record with 814 wins in a row. The park offers an intimate, attractive setting for an evening of entertainment. Can't wait!
