Looking at the Reds Future: Mesoraco and Rodriguez

About a week before the MLB draft, the FanSided Sports Network launched a new site, Seedlings to Stars. The aim: take a look at some of the talented players within all the minor leagues as well as provide insight on the draft. Well, it didn’t take S2S too long to look at a couple of Reds prosepcts in Devin Mesoraco and Henry Rordriguez.

The mere mention of Mesoraco has Reds fans drooling for the day the 2007 first-round pick dons a Cincy uniform for good. The excitement level about his offensive production this season (as Nathaniel mentions) invokes a giddiness within the fanbase…for a good reason I might add.

Rodriguez has the whole package…just like the current man at second base in Brandon Phillips. The defense will develop more, too. He may be a year or two away, but do not forget the name.

Here at BRM, we’ve written a few posts about Mesoraco. Last week, I mentioned Rodriguez in my post about the team speed that present is in Bakersfield. Rodriguez has impressed so much that he was promoted to Carolina recently. There should be some buzz generated about this youngster as well.

One thing that I can always count on whenever I read any post about prospects where Nathaniel Stoltz is the author: it will be fair and honest. Rarely does he wear rose-colored glasses. No bull and straight to the point.

I hope you enjoy Nathaniel’s take on Mesoraco (here) and Rodriguez (here). I believe a few eyes will open…
