We Asked, You Answered!

by Reds

I thought I would try something a little different as I was watching the Reds game this evening. Instead of my usual viewing the various tweets that scroll through my Reds column on Tweet Deck (no, this is not an endorsement), I decided to ask the Reds fans a few questions. Here are the results of those that I posed for the evening…

Reds manager Dusty Baker had Jay Bruce batting cleanup tonight. I posed if Reds fans Liked the move or not. In what should be no surprise, the overwhelming majority liked Dusty’s move. It was not even close, 92% to 8%.

My second question took the left field position into account. Of the three potential players (Jonny Gomes, Fred Lewis or Chris Heisey, who should be starting in left? It appears that despite putting up rahter low numbers as a starter, Chris Heisey is still the darling of Reds fans; however, it was a late surge by the FLewis fan club that pulled him into a tie with Heisey. Gomes was a distant third.

The next question I asked pertained a recent topic here on BRM regarding umpires. My question: If MLB had the potential of having a computer monitor balls and strikes, are you for it or against it? This was a close vote with a slim majority favoring that no computer be used. While I personally agree, I did find it a bit surprising it went this way.

Onward we go…Next was the grading of Chad Reineke‘s Reds debut. As I thought, most of the votes were around a “C” to a “C-” grade. The total range was “B” to “D”. This question actually received more answers than I thought it would. Of course there were a couple of comments that suggested that Dusty should have pinch-hit for Reineke in the 4th when the Reds and no outs with the bases loaded. Reineke, after falling behind 0-2, worked to a full count before grounding into a double play.

(Editor’s Note: OK. I got to say something here. Scream that Reineke swung at the pitch all you want. That one swing does go on Dusty. There is something called a take sign.)

The final question was in regards to (once again) recently waves for the Reds to acquire Mets shortstop Jose Reyes. There were no answers to choose from with this one. It was all on the fans. I asked if you (the fan) was Waly Jocketty, what one move would you make as GM? No choices. You make the deal. I offered the most original tweet to be on the blog…and here it is! It was submitted by @CurtOU, an avid reader of BRM.

I’ll leave this for discussion within our comments section. What do you think about CurtOU’s trade and subsequent move of Renteria?
