Good News, Bad News

The obvious is the bad news…

That would be that the Reds dropped a 10-8 decision today to Arizona and this, losing the series. The Reds surrendered leads of 5-0 and 7-6 en route to the loss. Nick Masset earned the honor of being handed a ticket to Louisville according to those on Twitter. Yes, too soon, if it ever happens at all. Actually, it won’t happen. Masset has no options.

Now, on to the good news…

First off, Kevin Geary will be interviewing Dontrelle Willis early this week. Look for that.

Second, the Reds announced the rehab assignments for Johnny Cueto and Homer Bailey.

According to Mark Sheldon, Cueto will have a two inning or a 35-40 pitch outing (which ever comes first) in Goodyear tomorrow. After that, Cueto will join the team and San Diego before going to Louisville for three outings (April 16, 21 and 26). It won’t be until that April 26 outing that any decision will be made on Cueto.

On Tuesday, Bailey will undergo a 45-50 pitch session. If all goes well, he, too, will have Louisville in his future. The dates for his Louisville outings are April 17 and 22. He will be assessed after that April 22 outing and could be activated after that if there are no setbacks along the way.

In case you’re not aware, Joey Votto had his 9th four-hit game of his career. He’s currently hitting .455. And he’s also scored 12 runs, tied for the NL lead with…Brandon Phillips.

See…all isn’t so bad. Yes, today’s loss was bad, but for some “fans” to jump off, I have to severely question their loyalty from the onset. It’s the ninth game of the season. To be blunt, get a grip. Just don’t storm out like a certain manager did a few days ago…

One last thing. If you attended Redsfest and received a coupon for this Friday’s game against the Pirates, the Reds are encouraging those with coupons to redeem them prior top game day in order to avoid long lines. I strongly suggest the same. If the last home game is any indication (6,301 walk-up) could set you back a fair amount of time before the game starts (7:10 PM EDT) provided you wait until then.
