The Reds scored ten runs in the first inning today to beat the Oakland Athletics 13-5.
Chris Dickerson was 4-4 with a homerun. Dickerson’s homer came as part of the 10-run first inning off Ben Sheets. The outfielder is 9-for-21 with two steals this spring as he attempts to win at least a share of the left-field job. Jonny Gomes, his primary competition, went 2-for-3 with a two-run double today and is 7-for-21 with two homers this spring.
I like Jonny Gomes as the starter in LF. And, I think Dickerson becomes the fourth outfielder spelling both Drew Stubbs and Jay Bruce. I think Dickerson deserves about 300-400 at bats this season.
