Jose Arredondo? Investing in the Future

Posted by: Tim Grimes

The Reds signed injured relief pitcher Jose Arredondo. He underwent Tommy John surgery and will not pitch this season. He was a dominant set-up man with Angels until he developed arm problems.

This reclamation project could pay huge dividends for the Reds in 2011. A cheap set-up pitcher or even closer for the purpose of dumping salary.

Great signing. Low risk with the potential for very high rewards. He should be a great addition to our bullpen for 2011 and beyond and has potential closer stuff. Can’t wait to see him pitch in a Reds uniform although it may be a while as he still has not gone under the knife and has had problems in the past with his work ethic and attitude. These are the types of risks that need to be taken though, great signing again Walt.
