Bronson Arroyo = Selfish Son of a bitch
I hope everyone got to see what a selfish baseball player and person he really is. He boast to the USA Today about himself taking performance enhancing drugs while with the Boston Red Sox. He also bragged about his continuing consumption of various drugs and substances not approved by Major League Baseball. Why bring that fire upon yourself and the Reds? It is idiotic to say the least. I just can’t understand his bringing attention to these facts. I mean, it is so commonplace to hear about someone taking steroids these days. Most fans and observers are sick and tired [...]
Aaron Harang is out for the season
Aaron Harang had emergency surgery last night in Cincinnati. He had appendicitis. He was driven from Pittsburgh to Cincinnati yesterday by Rick Stowe, Equipment Manager. He joins fellow starters Edinson Volquez and Johnny Cueto on the disabled list.
Alex Gonzalez got traded to the Boston Red Sox
Scott Rolen Out Again
Scott Rolen has missed the last two games with concussion-like symptoms. He was hit in the head with a Jason Marquis pitch last Sunday. Adam Rosales has started in his stead. Good news, Adam just hit a 2-run homer in San Fran.
Reds’ Stat of the Year
The Reds are 41-0 when leading after the 8th inning. They are baseball’s only undefeated team, ha ha ha ha ha.
Weathers Traded to Milwaukee
The Reds have traded David “Stormy” Weathers to the Milwaukee Brewers for a player to be named later. Weathers is 3-3 with a 3.32 ERA in 43 games. He pitched one inning and got the win in Friday’s 10-5 comeback win over the San Francisco Giants. The 39-year-old reliever starts his second stint with Milwaukee. He previously pitched for the Brewers from 1998-2001.
Volquez out for the season
Edinson Volquez will not pitch again this season. He experienced pain in his latest bullpen session. He was pitching to actual batters and pitching with normal velocity. The right-hander was cruising toward a rehab assignment. “I was fine in all my bullpens,” Volquez said. “But when I threw with more intensity to hitters today, I felt it. It’s crazy. It’s not as bad as it was.”
Reds 3-11
3-11, no, its not the music group playing in GABP, its the Reds record since the All-Star break. They have fallen in to a virtual tie with the Pirates for last place. They were battling for 1st place in May but have since fallen off the pace. Their great starting pitching has deserted them. Also, the injuries are mounting up. My buddy texted me last night and said, “I haven’t watched the Reds in a week. And, now, I don’t know any of the players.” I told him they haven’t won a game since then either. With the Reds losing [...]
Hairston Trade Update
The Reds receive Chase Weems, Catcher, from the New York Yankees for Hairston. Weems is a 20 year old catching prospect. He is currently playing A ball for the Yanks. He was a 6th round pick in 2007 out of high school.
Rolen Trade Finalized
Scott Rolen, formerly of the Toronto Blue Jays, was traded to the Reds for Edwin Encarnacion 3b, Josh Roenicke RP, and Zach Stewart RP/SP. There was some confusion as to who the Reds sent the Blue Jays. Here in Cincinnati, the rumor was that Yonder Alonso, 2008 1st rd pick, was included in the deal.
