Edinson Volquez (right elbow) has been cleared to begin a throwing program.
Volquez was checked out Tuesday morning by Dr. Tim Kremchek. “He stretched it, twisted it. He’s going to check me every time I throw, said the right-hander. “I don’t feel any pain.” Volquez is expected to play catch from 60 feet Friday. He’s hoping to return shortly after the All-Star break.
