Micah Owings hit a pinch hit homerun in the ninth inning of the Reds 8-7 loss. It was Micah’s second pinch homerun of his career and sixth overall. Both of pinch hit homers tied games for his team. The only other pitcher to do that was Milwaukee Brewers Brooks Kieschnick in 2003-04. He was a former Red and mainly played the outfield for them. He then converted to a relief pitcher. Owings and Kieschnick, according to the Elias Sports Bureau, are the only pair in the past 50 years to achieve this feat.
Side note: Brooks was my favorite player when he played for the Louisville Riverbats. I used to sit in the RF seats right behind him and talk to him every game. He hit some monster homers for Louisville. I still refer to Kieschnick to my buddies.
Go Reds,
Tim
